Oregon Summer Festival 2010
Back in the Saddle Again!
July 16-17, 2010
Pendleton Convention Center
1601 Westgate
Pendleton, Oregon
|
The beautiful Pendleton Convention Center will be the location for
the 2010 Oregon Summer Festival. Our plans include a free dance on
Thursday night, July 15, which will be open to the public. We will have
squares, rounds, and some line dancing.
The festival's theme is "Back in the Saddle Again". Our official outfit
is anything with a western print. So, every time you see a western print,
think of our festival!
We have some exciting things planned for our festival, including a
bluegrass band from Hood River called "Fiddlegrass" who will be performing
at various times throughout the weekend.

events for this fun-filled weekend.
Caller - Marshall Flippo
Our features caller is Marshall Flippo of Texas. Marshall has not been
in the Northwest for quite a while, making this a rare treat. He and his
wife have been square dancing for 50 years, he has been calling for
more than 40, has recorded on several different labels, and is a founding
member of Callerlab.
Cuer - Ron & Georgine Woolcock
Our featured cuers include Ron & Georgine Woolcock from Olympia.
They have cued for many festivals in both Washington, Oregon, and
British Columbia. They have choreographed many round dances including
Sweet Georgeia Brown, Singing in the Rain, Sky Full of Angels, and
If I Had To Do It All Over Again.
Cuer - Susan Healea
We will also have Longview's Susan Healea doing cuing. Susan is well-known
as a cuer in the Pacific Northwest, having cued festivals in Oregon,
Washington, Canada, and Mexico.
Ron, Georgine and Susan are planning a showcase, some teaches, and great
round dancing.
Pendleton Area
Many of the business in Pendleton are waiting to help you build your
charm bracelet on the "Charm Trail", and the Oxford Suites is prepared
with more of their famous hospitality at reasonable rates. Don't forget
the Pendleton Woolen Mills and Underground Tours and the Wildhorse
Casino just up the road.
Our headquarters hotel is the Oxford Suites, only two blocks
from the Convention Center, at 877-545-7848. For other hotels
and campgrounds, see the list of links below, or the back of the
registration form.
Dry camping is available right in the Pendleton Convention Center
parking lot for $15 per night. Electricity is available, and showers
are available in the Convention Center.
Travel Options
Most people arrive in Pendleton by car. The convention center (and many
of the hotels) are north of exit 209 on I-5, about 3 hours east of
Portland.
There are other options as well SeaPort Airlines offers direct
air service between Portland and Pendleton several times each day at a
reasonable rate, and you don't need to go through the hassles of a TSA
